My Favorite Wedding Vows

Note: I spoke a version of these vows at (Y)Our Wedding, which was a uncommon wedding experience dreamed and birthed by Nicolas Bitner and Dena Lewittes, uniting 52 souls together in Morocco on Saturday, May 28th, 2022.

I see our union as a true expression and honest celebration of the highest and best within us:
our love of life,
our love of people,
our love of laughter,
our love of music,
our love of dance and creativity,
and any aspect of our beings which genuinely represents us, and brings us joy.

I hold our union as an opportunity for growth,
for self-expression,
for lifting our lives to their highest potential,
for healing every false thought or small idea we have ever had about ourselves.

I see our marriage as a symbol of unity,
but not of possession;

of joining,
but not of restricting;

of encirclement,
but not of entrapment;

because love truly can not be possessed,
nor can be restricted;

and no one’s soul can ever be entrapped.

I declare today my intention to give you my deepest friendship and love;

not only when your moments are high,
but when they are low;

not only when you remember clearly Who You Are, but when you forget;

not only when you are acting with love,
but when you are not.

It is my intention to forever stand united in the sacred partnership of our souls;

that we may do together the work of light,
the work of love,
sharing all that is good within us
with all those whose lives we touch.
